Born on June 6, 1941, in Erin-Ijesa, Osun State, Nigeria, Kumuyi’s early life laid the foundation for a significant journey in education, faith, and leadership.
Kumuyi attended Mayflower School for his secondary education, where he developed a strong academic foundation and began his career as a mathematics teacher.
He pursued higher education at the University of Ibadan, graduating in 1967 with a first-class honours degree in mathematics and as the overall best student of his set. Following his graduation, he returned to Mayflower School to teach mathematics.
